Well the next big horse race in the Triple Crown is the Preakness which is this Saturday the 15th. Now on Friday the 14th there is another great race called the Black Eyed Susan, and if you are wondering if there is a signature cocktail for this the answer would be…..YES! And the good news is it actually a tasty cocktail unlike the Kentucky Derby’s bourbon and mouthwash beverage. The cocktail is called the Black Eyed Susan and comes from myrecipes.com

Directions

  • Stir together first 5 ingredients. Fill 2 (12-oz.) glasses with crushed ice. Pour orange juice mixture over ice. Garnish, if desired. Serve immediately.

    Now there is a recipe for The Preakness that is a variation of the Manhattan. It’s a boozy elixer here is too courtesy of liquor.com

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 ounces American rye whiskey
    • 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
    • 1/4 ounce Bénédictine
    • 1 dash Angostura bitters
    • Garnish: lemon twist

    • Steps

      1. Add all in the ingredients to a mixing glass and fill with ice.

      2. Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass or coupe.

      3. Garnish with a lemon twist.
